Yes, You Can Build Your Own Telescope!

The Atlanta Astronomy Club can show you how.
The Atlanta Astronomy Club's Amateur Telescope Makers (ATM) special interest group has evolved into a dynamic group that accomplishes a wide variety of projects for the club's members, as well as for the club as a whole.

Meetings are held as posted here. Each meeting is held in two sessions. The first part of the meeting is for general discussion. Theory, techniques, and construction are covered in this section. The second section is set up as hands-on workshops. In this section, we work on a variety of techniques, from electronic construction to mirror grinding. Our format includes Astronomical Imaging topics as well. We switch between ATM and imaging topics on a bi-monthly basis. We have regularly scheduled workshops which include mirror grinding, scope construction and building accessories. Check back here for more information.

The ATM has temporarily stopped meeting due to renovations at Bradley Observatory, but will recommence soon. Check the listserv for further information on meetings.
